Lovers of Italian opera and fine dining can combine these passions
at the Bel Canto Foundation Opera Evenings. Held in a banquet

enjoy a gourmet Italian dinner. Following dessert, contestants
from the Student and young Artist Divisions compete for over
$50,000 in monetary prizes. The Grand Prize Winner receives a
cash prize of $10,000 to be used to further their education
and/or operatic career.
All evenings are held at Monastero's

Dear Loyal Patrons of Bel Canto,
We are still enjoying the echo of the 40th Anniversary Season of Bel Canto. Our Grand Prize winners have
busy schedules. Yuriy Yurchuk just sang in a
tribute to Martina Arroyo at the Kennedy Center Honors that was attended by President and Mrs. Obama. It aired on PBS.
Michael Brandenburg will appear at Ravinia this summer.
The tributes to Verdi’s 200th Anniversary and to Tito
Gobbi’s 100th Birthday were magical. As always, the audience sing-alongs on Va Pensiero crowned the season.
The Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2014
Opera Contest Evenings. We will present some special events later in the year and look forward to the 2015 Opera Contest Evenings.
Mille grazie for being a loyal and generous part of the
Bel Canto Family. Your participation continues to make
a great difference in the lives of the young singers!
